Insucon 2026 Call For Papers

The Electrical Insulation Association is holding its 15th International Electrical Insulation Conference (INSUCON) in Birmingham, UK, in 2026

INSUCON 2026 will be held at the IET Centre, Austin Court
in Birmingham, UK, from 21 – 23 April 2026

CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES

INSUCON 2026 will be the fifteenth in the series and continues to promote its prime objective of advancing electrical insulation technology through new materials, innovative applications and improved processes and testing procedures.

TECHNICAL SCOPE

Papers are invited on aspects of electrical insulation related to the technology of power apparatus, such as:

  • Rotating Machines
  • Power Conversion Equipment & Systems
  • Transformers and dielectric fluids
  • Air and Gas insulated Switchgear
  • Outdoor insulation
  • AC and DC Power Cables
  • HVDC Equipment & Systems
  • AC and DC Bushings
  • Protection devices & surge arresters
  • Renewable Energy
  • Electric Vehicles/Transportation
  • Aerospace Insulation Challenges
  • Battery Energy Storage

The scope may cover these additional areas:

  • New materials development and applications
  • High Temperature Electrical Insulation Materials
  • Environmentally friendly Insulation Materials
  • Nanomaterials and multifunctional Materials
  • Alternative Gaseous Insulation
  • Materials production, assessment and life-cycle analysis
  • Ageing, degradation and failure phenomena and evaluation of in-service insulation systems
  • Effect of inverter drives on machine Insulation
  • PD detection for on or off line use
  • Condition monitoring & diagnostic techniques
  • HV measurements and test procedures
  • Environmental aspects such as flammability, toxicity, remediation and eco-design
  • Insulation processing/fabrication technologies
  • Application/Deposition of Insulation Materials

CONTRIBUTIONS

The organizing committee invites offers of contributions for consideration of inclusion in the program. Those wishing to contribute a paper should submit a synopsis of 100 – 300 words with graphs and figures in English to the Secretary by Friday 20th June 2025. The synopsis should be sent by e-mail to the Secretary at the address below, together with address and telephone number of the main contact. Further information and a map of the location of Austin Court may be obtained on the INSUCON website.

INSUCON 2026 is co-sponsored by the IEEE DEIS

Authors whose synopsis has been approved for development into a full paper will be invited by early July 2025 to provide a typescript of up to 6 pages (including figures and tables) by the deadline of Friday 17th October 2025. All successful papers shall be presented in person by the author or by a member of a group of authors at the conference. All authors in attendance at the conference shall be a registered delegate. Author instructions on the lay-out of the papers and syntax required will be published on the INSUCON 2026 website. Final selection will be based on the full paper. A provisional programme and registration form will be published in January 2026 on the above website and will also be sent out by e-mail. All synopses and papers must be submitted in English and the Conference will be entirely in English.
